Benzie Central Looks to Continue Turnaround

BENZONIA – After posting one of the biggest on-field turnarounds in the area last fall, Benzie Central is looking to build off that success and use it as a springboard for the future.

The Huskies recorded their first winning campaign (6-4) and playoff appearance last year since going 7-3 in 2011 after having gone 1-8 in 2017 and canceling their season after one game in 2016.

Benzie Central returns four seniors from last year’s squad that won its final three regular season games over traditional playoff contenders with victories over Grayling, Boyne City and Frankfort.

“We’re pretty excited with what we can do this year, you know, coming off making the playoffs last year,” Benzie Central senior Chandler Yacks said. “We’re definitely bringing some momentum with us. We’re going to do great things.”

“We kept that momentum going,” added Benzie Central senior Gavin Tulgetske. “You could tell that every single time you walked up into that weight room, Coach wanted us to feel that magic and he kept it going.”

Benzie Central open its schedule on the road at Chesaning on Thursday, Aug. 29.
