Big Rapids Playing “Tough” in 2019
BIG RAPIDS – A year after reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2015, Big Rapids enters 2019 with the same mantra of “tough people win.”
The Cardinals went 5-5 a year ago to post just their third season of .500 or better ball since 2012.
Big Rapids finished tied for third in the Central State Activities Association Gold division last fall and looks to compete for a league title this year in a conference that could be up for grabs.
“I think people are definitely taking that as their mindset going into it,” Big Rapids senior Jacob Alber said. “Not a lot of guys are going off the bumps and bruises, they’re just fighting through it and being tough.”
“The focus isn’t just the physical toughness, it’s the mental toughness, making sure that we’re focused,” added Big Rapids coach Mike Selzer. “Obviously when we mess up, we go to correcting it right away.
