Cheboygan Looks to Take Next Step in 2019
CHEBOYGAN – After struggling in its first year in the tough Northern Michigan Football League Legends division, Cheboygan has found its footing and enters 2019 having posted consecutive 4-5 campaigns.
The Chiefs are now looking to make the next step and compete not only for a conference championship but their first playoff berth and winning season since 2013.
With a good group of experienced seniors returning, Cheboygan is excited for the future.
“We’ve got some pretty good experienced players that got good quality time last year that we’re looking forward to building off that, and having a great year this year,” Cheboygan coach Dave Schulz said. “They know what’s at stake, and you know right away you set that bar, and week one is the most important, getting off to a great start.”
Cheboygan opens its season at Sault Ste. Marie on Friday. The Blue Devils won last year’s meeting 6-0.
