East Jordan Seeks Improvement in 2019

EAST JORDAN – After consecutive 1-8 campaigns, East Jordan is looking to get back on track in 2019 and reach the playoffs for the first time since 2003.

With Newberry and Gaylord St. Mary dropping down to 8-player and leaving the Northern Michigan Football League Legacy division, East Jordan coach Greg Kitson believes the conference championship race will be wide open.

“The conference is open in our division,” he said. “There’s only, what, five teams in the division. I think they see that. And they know it’s been since like 1986 that we’ve won a conference championship, so it’s attainable.”

“We just want to improve upon last year,” added East Jordan senior Chandler Bartig. “Last year didn’t go great for us, and we feel like we can do much better. It would mean a great deal to everybody here.”

East Jordan opens its season at Harbor Springs on Thursday. The Rams won last year’s meeting 27-18.
