Experienced Morley Stanwood Looks to Challenge for League Title

MORLEY – After posting its third straight seven-win season and fifth straight playoff appearance a year ago, Morley Stanwood remains on schedule with where the coaching staff wants the program to be.

The Mohawks are still searching for their first Central State Activities Association Silver championship since sharing the title with Kent City in 2016. But with a sizable senior group and experienced junior class, Morley Stanwood looks primed to make a run at a conference title and another postseason bid.

“We have a good group of seniors that are coming back, so that leadership and experience helps things go a little bit faster,” Morley Stanwood coach Clark Huntey said. “Our juniors have acclimated really well, so I think we’re right on schedule where we need to be.”

Morley Stanwood opens its year at Central Montcalm on Thursday, Aug. 29. The Mohawks won last year’s meeting 19-0.
