Farwell Ready to Make Major Strides in 2019
FARWELL – Farwell enters the 2019 season under second-year coach Travis Waddell looking to make major strides this fall.
After going 1-8 last year and having not recorded more than two wins in a season since 2012, the Eagles are feeling more confident and comfortable in the program’s playbook than they have in years.
“We are light years ahead of where we were last year, as far as play knowledge and stuff like that,” Farwell senior Jacob Holt said. “Last year we had kids that hardly knew their position, and now we have kids that know everybody’s position.”
In addition to the increased knowledge of the playbook, Farwell implemented an improved offseason workout regimen.
“We had a great offseason as far as lifting and getting stronger and faster,” Waddell said. “We did our testing this spring, and we tested much faster, much more athletic than we have in years past, so we’re excited about, you know, kind of putting our stamp on Farwell football, and changing a culture.”
Farwell opens its season at Coleman on Thursday, Aug. 29. The Eagles won last year’s meeting 20-18.
