Groulx Takes Over Farwell Girls Basketball

FARWELL – The Farwell girls basketball team has a new leader.

Michael Groulx has added to his plate at Farwell High School, becoming the new varsity girls basketball coach. He is also the assistant principal and the athletic director.

Groulx is no stranger to coaching. He has coached at St. Clair Community College, Eastern Michigan University and Canisius College (N.Y.).

He’s excited for the new challenge of coaching high schoolers.

“I’m just really looking forward to the opportunity,” said Groulx. “I’ve never done it before, it’s going to be a great experiment for myself and a great experience.

After a year under his belt in his administrative roles, he’s looking forward to getting back to coaching and getting to see his students in more than just a classroom setting.

“You know I’m just excited to get started here at Farwell as the women’s head varsity basketball coach and continue to grow and mold young people,” added Groulx. “Athletics is an extension of the classroom and hopefully we can continue to develop these girls through athletics and prepare them for their next phase in life after graduation from here.”

The Eagles first game is Tuesday, Dec. 3.
