Ream Takes Over at Mesick

MESICK – Mesick enters its third year of 8-player football with a new head coach.

Otto Ream, who previously served as the school’s JV coach, takes over for Josh Crocker who departed  for other coaching opportunities at Benzie Central.

Ream inherits a program that went 4-5 last year but won three of its final five games to finish in a tie for second in the West Michigan D League.

The new coach implemented a strong preseason conditioning program.

“We learned a lot from it and carrying those sandbags and lifting those logs,” Mesick senior Tanner Ford said. “We had to rely on each other to do each part of it, which is exactly what we implement in practice.”

“They’re tough and very aggressive,” added Ream. “They will be more aggressive and I think a lot of that was from the week we had.”

Mesick opens its season at home against 8-player newcomer Mio on Thursday, Aug. 29.
