Rogers City Sets Sights High in 2019

ROGERS CITY – After reaching the postseason for the first since 2009 last fall, Rogers City is eyeing consecutive playoff appearances for the first time since doing so in 2006 and 2007.

Rogers City went 8-1 in the regular season a year ago en route to a Division 8 pre-district contest with Iron River West Iron County. The eight wins was the most by a Rogers City team since the Hurons went 9-1 in 1998.

The Hurons return seven seniors and have solid depth on offense.

“Their goal was to get back to the playoffs this year,” Rogers City coach Jesse Fenstermaker said. “They want to have an undefeated season this year. There’s potential there to do that.”

“It would mean everything,” added Rogers City senior Lewis Fleming. “That’s what I’ve been working all offseason for, and I’m ready to make it there again.”

Rogers City opens its season on the road at Whittemore-Prescott on Friday. The Hurons won last year’s meeting 20-17.
