Shelby Optimistic for 2019 Season

SHELBY – After recording its third winless campaign in four years last fall, Shelby is optimistic for its 2019 season.

The Tigers have improved athletically and are a united team this summer, something that hampered Shelby last year.

“Team unity is a big thing,” Shelby coach Lorenzo Rodriguez said. “I see a totally different mindset on this team than what we had last year I think that was one of our Achilles’ heels last year was not having that team unity that we were looking for and I see that in the entire offseason program and leading up to now.”

“We feel like we’re a family around here and we’ll be the most physical on the field,” added Shelby junior Lorenzo Rodriguez. “We’re in shape and we’re all ready to go.”

Shelby opens its year at home against Grant on Thursday, Aug. 29. Grant won last year’s meeting 20-13.
