University of Michigan Little Traverse Bay Spirit Group Hosts Jim Brandstatter

PETOSKEY – One of the most recognizable voices in Michigan sports radio paid a visit to Petoskey and the Perry Hotel Monday afternoon.

Veteran University of Michigan football play-by-play announcer and former Detroit Lions color commentator Jim Brandstatter spoke before members of the University of Michigan Little Traverse Bay Spirit Group on Monday.

Brandstatter, who starred at offensive tackle and earned All-Big Ten honors in 1971 at Michigan, says this should be a great year for the Wolverines.

“I’m like Jim Harbaugh, I’m very optimistic. I like their chances,” he said. “It’s going to be a tough go. Their crossover games on the other side of the Big 10 with Iowa and Wisconsin, that’s not easy but they got the three big ones at home. The schedule sets up nicely. The other thing I think is important is they’ve got a veteran quarterback. Shea Patterson is back, so I think they have a shot to win the Big 10 championship.”

Michigan kicks off its season at home against Middle Tennessee State at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31.
