By the Numbers 2019: Week 1 in Review

Gaylord St. Mary kicked off its first season of 8-player football with a dominant 82-6 victory over Manistee Catholic Central last Thursday.

The first week of the 2019 high school football regular season in northern Michigan saw a number of outstanding individual and team performances, from Chase Ingersoll’s eight-touchdown performance for Forest Area to Gaylord St. Mary’s 76-point win over Manistee Catholic Central.

3 – The number of completions and touchdowns thrown by Pickford senior quarterback Jimmy Storey in a 48-16 win over Crystal Falls Forest Park last Friday. Storey was 3-of-10 for 113 yards and three scores through the air and rushed for 171 yards and a touchdown.
25 – Consecutive regular-season wins for Pickford. The Panthers continued their streak with a 48-16 victory over Crystal Falls Forest Park last Friday.
56 – First-half points scored by Beal City in a 56-0 non-league win over Saranac last Thursday. The Aggies scored 28 points in each of the opening quarters in a game that was called at the half due to severe weather in the area.
74 – First-half points scored by Gaylord St. Mary in an 82-6 victory over Manistee Catholic Central last Thursday. The Snowbirds held a 42-0 lead after a quarter and led 74-0 at the half. The contest was St. Mary’s first at the 8-player level.
108 – Points scored combined in Forest Area’s 64-44 non-conference win over Brethren last Friday.
414 – Total yards accumulated by Forest Area quarterback Chase Ingersoll in Friday’s 64-44 win over Brethren. Ingersoll rushed for 307 yards and five touchdowns on 25 carries and completed nine passes for 107 yards, three scores and an interception. He also had five tackles and forced a fumble defensively.
2009 – The last time Pellston recorded a win over Bellaire prior to Friday’s 30-12 victory. The win moved the Hornets to 14-32 all-time against the Eagles and gave Pellston its first season-opening victory since a 13-6 win over Forest Area in 2012.
