By the Numbers 2019: Week 2 in Review

From Jimmy Storey’s five-touchdown performance in Pickford’s win over Engadine to Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart’s 71-point first half in a win over Burton Atherton, Week 2 of the 2019 high school football season in northern Michigan saw plenty of great performances.

5 – Touchdowns scored by Pickford senior quarterback Jimmy Storey in a 58-18 win over Engadine last Friday. Storey rushed for 146 yards and two scores and threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns.
18 – Total tackles registered by Josh Saylor in Forest Area’s 46-6 loss to Mesick last Friday.
35 – Points scored by Oscoda in the first half of Friday’s 70-7 win over Coleman.
71 – First-half points scored by Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart in a 78-20 victory over visiting Burton Atherton last Friday.
199 – Combined points scored by Muskegon Oakridge, Whitehall and Montague over area West Michigan Conference foes Shelby, Hart and Mason County Central. Shelby fell to Oakridge (77-0), Hart was shutout by Whitehall (60-0) and Montague blanked Mason County Central (62-0).
348 – Net yards rushing by Traverse City Central in its 37-28 win over Marquette last Friday.
435 – Total yards rushing by Reed City in a 54-6 CSAA Gold win over Fremont last Friday.
2012 – The last time Pellston started a season 2-0 prior to Friday. The Hornets improved to 2-0 by rallying for a 42-38 win over Posen. Glen Lake also recorded its first win over rival Traverse City St. Francis since the 2012 season with a 28-7 victory on Saturday. The Lakers moved to 5-13 all-time against the Gladiators.
