Forest Area Cancels 2019 Football Season
FIFE LAKE – Three weeks into the 2019 high school football season, Forest Area has announced it is canceling its varsity season due to low participation numbers and a concern for player safety, head coach Brian Mumby confirmed Monday.
The Warriors, who are in their fourth year of 8-player football, had a 12-player varsity roster that was comprised of six underclassmen, four juniors and two seniors. With one injury, Forest Area was limited to just 11 players.
Forest Area won its first game of the season against Brethren, but following a loss to Mesick in Week 2, forfeited its game against Suttons Bay last Saturday.
Forest Area was scheduled to travel to Onekama on Friday for the annual Warrior Game.
