TC Central, TC West Set to Clash in Annual TC Patriot Game

TRAVERSE CITY – It’s time again for the annual TC Patriot Game in Traverse City.

This is the 25th time these cross-town rivals will meet on the football field.

“It’s a different kind of game so you can game plan all you want, something crazy is bound to happen,” said Traverse City West head coach Greg Vaughan.

“You know our kids are excited, we know what’s at stake and it’s going to be a great environment for high school football and I can’t be prouder of our kids and how we’ve prepared,” added Traverse City Central head coach Eric Schugars. “Our staff and kids and I think we’re ready to play.”

There’s a lot that will be decided on Friday night. West and Central are both 2-1 heading into this matchup and it’s also their first conference game of the season.

“There is a lot on the line, it’s a big game, it’s always been a big game, we’re both good team so it’ll be a battle,” said Peyton Smith, a Traverse City Central senior.

What this game really comes down to however, is the community coming together to honor those who have served and still serve our country.

“It’s an amazing feeling, there’s nothing like it,” said Oshyn Carnes, a Traverse City West senior. “It’s a great moment just to be able to shake another person’s hand who you know who fought and sacrificed their life for yours.”

The TC Patriot Game kicks off at 7:15 pm with the ceremony starting at 6:30 pm.
