By the Numbers 2019: Week 6 in Review

From a four-touchdown performance from Traverse City Central quarterback Peyton Smith to a tremendous effort by Reed City’s backfield, Week 6 of the 2019 high school football season in northern Michigan saw plenty of great performances.

3 – Area 11-player program can secure postseason berths this week with wins. Traverse City Central, Harbor Springs and Mt. Pleasant can all reach the playoffs with a win in Week 7.
4 – Touchdowns passes thrown by Traverse City Central senior quarterback Peyton Smith in a 38-6 win over Petoskey last Friday.
6 – Area programs are still seeking their first win of 2019. Fremont, Manton, Inland Lakes, Kalkaska, Shelby and Bear Lake.
7 – Area 11-player teams clinched playoffs bid with wins last week. Beal City, Beaverton, Clare, Johannesburg-Lewiston, Kingsley, Glen Lake and Central Montcalm all secured postseason bids.
7 – Rushing touchdowns scored by Pickford in a 64-20 conference in over Cedarville last Friday.
9 – Undefeated area teams remaining. Beal City, Beaverton, Clare, Johannesburg-Lewiston, Kingsley, Glen Lake, Central Montcalm, Pellston and Gaylord St. Mary all improved to 6-0 last week.
107 – Combined points scored in Kingsley’s 67-40 win over Benzie Central in NMFL Legends play on Friday.
312 – Yards rushing by Traverse City Central in a 38-6 Big North Conference victory over Petoskey last Friday.
444 – Yards rushing for Reed City in a 36-8 win over Big Rapids last Friday. Auston Major led the way with 173 yards on the ground.
2002 – The last time Kingsley began a season at 6-0. The Stags picked up their sixth win last week with a 67-40 victory over Benzie Central to move one step closer to a league title.
