Glen Lake’s Angers Honored by Detroit Lions

MAPLE CITY – Glen Lake’s Jerry Angers has been selected by the Detroit Lions as the Week 6 recipient of the 2019 Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan High School Coach of the Week program.

The top-ranked team in Division 6, Glen Lake is off to its first 6-0 start since 2013 and recently locked up its fifth straight playoff berth.

Now in his 11th season as head coach of Glen Lake, Angers has a career record of 68-41 and has guided the Lakers to eight playoff appearances and the 2016 MHSAA Division 6 state championship game. Prior to Glen Lake, Angers served as the longtime defensive coordinator for Traverse City West.

Angers and the Lakers travel to Division 5 No. 4 Kingsley (6-0) on Friday for the Salute to Service Game.

Now in its 23rd year, the Detroit Lions High School Coach of the Week program awards a $2,000 donation to the recipient’s football program and a Gatorade performance package. All winners receive a certificate signed by Lions coach Matt Patricia and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, as well as a personalized game ball and acknowledgement at an upcoming home game. The season’s Coach of the Year will be awarded a $4,000 donation to the school’s football team and a Gatorade performance package.
