Harbor Springs Leads After Day 1 of 2019 D4 State Finals

BATTLE CREEK – Two-time defending state champion Harbor Springs finds itself in first place with a three-stroke lead over Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian after the first day of the 2019 MHSAA Division 4 Lower Peninsula girls golf state finals at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek.

The Rams fired a 359 on Friday and are 23 strokes ahead of third-place Kalamazoo Hackett.

Jacque O’Neill of Harbor Springs is the top individual after recording an 81. Aarushi Ganguly of Ann Arbor Greenhills is in second at 82.

Traverse City St. Francis sits in 10th with a 428, Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart and Chippewa Hills are tied for 13th at 443 and Manistee is in 18th with a 464.

The final day of the finals tees off Saturday morning.

At the Division 1 finals at Michigan State’s Forest Akers West, Traverse City West sits in 14th after carding a 379 on Friday. Northville leads Grosse Pointe South by 14 strokes at 322.

West’s Anci Dy is tied for fourth individually after firing a 4-over 76.

At the Division 2 finals at Michigan State’s Forest Akers East, Traverse City Central is in fourth with a 368, 31 strokes behind leader Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern. Petoskey is in ninth with a 378 and Mt. Pleasant sits in 18th with a 424.

Petoskey’s Ashley Lamb is tied for seventh overall after recording an 80.

Big Rapids is in ninth place at Division 3 final at Grand Valley State’s The Meadows. The Cardinals are 43 strokes behind leader Bloomfield Hills Marian. Hope Thebo of Big Rapids is tied forth ninth individually at an 83.
