Trio of TC Central Student-Athletes Sign NLIs
TRAVERSE CITY – Traverse City Central held its annual fall college signing day on Wednesday.
Seniors Maggie McCrary, Heidi Walters and Kelsey Swanson all signed there National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
After leading the Trojan softball program in a number of offensive categories, Walters signed with Concordia University of Ann Arbor where she plans to study nursing.
“Softball, it’s like after college, you’re kind of done. I was expecting that, so career was the driving decision with where I was going for softball,” Walters said.
McCrary guided Central’s volleyball team to a pair of Division 1 district championships over her four years and will continue her playing career and studies at Miami of Ohio.
“It was pretty stressful, the whole recruiting process,” she said. I’m glad it’s over, but it was a fun journey, fun ride. But it’s kind of nice to know where I’m going.”
Swanson is taking her hockey talents to Long Island University where she plans to study pharmacology.
“He (Long Island coach Rob Morgan) just contacted me, and I just want to be a part of making something new, and like starting new beginnings there,” Swanson said.
