Chippewa Hills Opens Season with Hometown Heroes Dual

REMUS – The Chippewas Hills wrestling program opened its 2019-20 season with its Hometown Heroes Assembly Dual Wednesday afternoon.

Wrestling in front of a packed gymnasium, with military veterans and the high school’s entire student body in attendance, the Division 3 fourth-ranked Warriors came away with a 43-32 win over Division 1 ninth-ranked Grandville.

The event honored current and past military members with connections to Chippewa Hills. The school’s marching band performed the official songs of the five services of the United States Armed Forces while a video presentation featuring current military members and veterans was played.

“A lot of our guys have family members and friends that have gone into the service, and have served, so it means a lot to the guys on the team,” Chippewa Hills coach Kevin Edwards said. “It was really cool. The whole school really came together to do this, and our high school really did a good job of putting this event on.”

Chippewa Hills returns to the mat Saturday at the Greenville Invitational.
