Fremont’s Walker Heading to National Cross Country Championship

FREMONT – Back on Sunday, Dec. 1, two Fremont cross country athletes raced in the Mid-West qualifier for the National Foot Locker Cross Country Championships. The race was held at the University of Wisconsin Parkside’s cross country course.

To move on to the national championships, the runners had to finish in the top 10. Fremont’s Nathan Walker accomplished that by finishing third with a time of 15:52.6.

“It was a little bit of a relief,” said Walker about finishing the race. “I was really nervous before the race cause I didn’t know exactly where I was capable of placing at. And honestly I thought I was in a little before my head in the beginning but I was extremely happy with my finish. It’s exciting that I’m going to this meet and it’s going to be a fun time.”

Walker is only the second ever Fremont cross country athlete to qualify for a national meet.

The National Foot Locker Championship is held in San Diego, California on Saturday, Dec. 14.
