Sault Ste. Marie Native Roque to Make U.S. Women’s National Team Debut
Sault Ste. Marie native and University of Wisconsin senior forward Abby Roque will make her debut with the U.S. Women’s National Hockey Team Saturday night as part of the opening two contests of the 2019-20 Rivalry Series with Canada.
A Sault Area High School graduate, Roque helped lead the Badgers to the 2019 NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey National Championship. Through 20 games this season, Roque is second on the team in points with 40.
The U.S. will take on Canada tomorrow night in Hartford, and the game will be aired live on @NBCSN.

Roque is one of six players making their National Team debut on the 23-player roster, joining teammates Britta Curl and Natalie Buchbinder. The team is comprised of players representing 10 states, including two from Michigan in Roque and 2018 Olympic Gold medalist Megan Keller.
Saturday’s game from the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut, is set for a 7 p.m. start. The second game from the Avenir Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick, is set for Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
