Central Wins Seventh Annual Veteran’s Cup

TRAVERSE CITY – Saturday at Centre Ice Arena, the Traverse City Central Trojans and Bay Reps took the ice for a bigger reason than hockey.

The two teams came together for the seventh annual Veteran’s Cup.

Central came away victorious with a 6-4 over the Bay Reps.

Many people from the community come out to support, with donations from the event going to Mid-Michigan Honor Flight and Grand Traverse Area Veterans Coalition.

“We both got to do the pep talk to the kids before the game,” said hub director of the honor flight, Robert Green. “We got to sit down and talk to both of the teams and give them a little bit of a pep talk before they go out on the ice. Lieutenant Colonel Burrell gave them a little bit of what being in the military was and encouraged them to be involved in their communities whether they go into the military or whatever they do in their life to make sure they’re involved in their communities.”
