CMU Men’s Hoops Game at Miami (OH) Postponed

OXFORD — Central Michigan announced on Tuesday that its road men’s basketball game against Miami (Ohio) has been postponed. The postponement comes after concerns that a student at Miami University has “very mild symptoms consistent with the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV).”

The game will be rescheduled, but there is no makeup date. The student at Miami University is being tested for possible infection after meeting the criteria for concern.

In a statement, Central Michigan Athletic Director Michael Alford said, “The health and safety of our student-athletes is always a top priority and, out of an ounce of caution, it was decided to cancel tonight’s men’s basketball game.”

Alford also mentioned that the university’s medical team is making sure the CMU student-athletes are safe and protected.

Central Michigan is 11-8 overall and 4-2 in the Mid-American Conference this season. The Chippewas’ next game is against rival Western Michigan on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Kalamazoo, Mich.
