Ferris State Women Take No. 3 Grand Valley State to the Wire in Loss

BIG RAPIDS – Riley Blair scored a game-high 23 points in Ferris State’s 72-68 loss to third-ranked Grand Valley State at Jim Wink Area on Thursday.

The Bulldogs (7-5, 1-3) trailed 31-28 at the half in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup before taking a 51-47 lead to the fourth quarter. Jenn Deboer’s 3-pointer with 2:41 remaining in regulation put GVSU (12-0, 4-0) ahead 65-62 as the Lakers held on from there.

Mallory McCartney joined Blair in double figures with 17 points and five assists while fellow starters Adrienne Anderson and Renee Sturm chipped in with nine points apiece.

DeBoer led the Lakers with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Maddie Dailey also tallied 18 points and seven boards.

Ferris State travels to Davenport on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
