LSSU’s Reid Chosen to Compete in Italy Tournament

SAULT STE. MARIE — Lake Superior State’s Amanda Reid wrapped up her college volleyball career this past season and has hung around the game by coaching a team of 15-year-olds. The senior learned recently that she will get another chance to play volleyball in Italy.

Reid earned an opportunity to represent the United States in a volleyball tournament in Italy from June 1-11. She will join a group of Division 2 players on the team.

Reid, who has aspirations to coach a college team one day, hopes this experience will help her pursue her dream.

“I just love seeing someone get better each day, so I feel like when I go to Italy, it’ll allow me to just play more but then get the extra experience,” Reid said. “When I am a coach, I can say, ‘Guys, when I went to Italy, like guess what,” and just everything that I do is a story and a memory and a lesson. So I feel like that’ll really help me out in the future.”

Reid seeks financial help with her journey to Italy by starting a GoFundMe:
