Pine River Wrestling Hosts Inaugural ‘Fallen Buck Invitational’

Pine River hosted a wrestling tournament Saturday afternoon featuring five other schools from all over the state to pay respect to former athletes.

The meet will now be an annual event now named the Fallen Buck Invitational.

During the tournament, Pine River held a ceremony and picture montage for six wrestlers who died too young over the last three decades.

This includes Timmy Rizor, who was killed in a car accident this past November.

“This is a way to recognize all the boys. One of the boys lost his life in 1989 and his name is on a mat but the mats get rolled up, they don’t get seen,” says Tim Rizor, Timmy’s father.

“This is a way to remember the boys every year and all the boys. It will be hard every year but at the same time it is good that people can not be forgotten.”

The meet was initially supposed to feature eight schools but two were unable to attend due to weather.
