Streak Snapped: No. 4 Bellaire Ends Gaylord St. Mary’s 59-Game SVC Win Streak

BELLAIRE – Division 4 fourth-ranked Bellaire ended Gaylord St. Mary’s 59-game Ski Valley Conference win streak with a 49-36 defeat on Wednesday.

The Eagles (10-0, 7-0) led 28-10 at the half and brought a 38-22 lead to the fourth quarter.

“It’s been a really long time since we’ve beat them and we just really wanted to show it tonight that we could do it and we put our all in it,” Bellaire junior Delaney Goodwin said. “We try hard in every practice, we’re working to go as far as we can this year because we think that we can.”

Prior to Wednesday’s defeat, St. Mary’s last conference loss came against Johannesburg-Lewiston on Feb. 2, 2016, in a 61-59 double overtime loss.

Bellaire hosts Inland Lakes on Friday while St. Mary (7-3, 6-1) welcomes in Johannesburg-Lewiston.
