West Branch Community Thrilled to Watch Zettel in Super Bowl
WEST BRANCH — Anthony Zettel has had quite the journey in the NFL, as the West Branch native is on his fourth roster since being drafted by the Lions in 2016.
That journey has worked out well, as Zettel will be in Miami, Fla., on Sunday for Super Bowl LIV.
He joined the 49ers in the middle of the season and has played in two playoff games for San Francisco with one tackle. The three other teams that he played for in his career did not make the playoffs this season (Lions, Browns and Bengals).
For the West Branch community and Ogemaw Heights school system, it’s been fun to watch one of their own make this journey to the Super Bowl.
“It’s great experience for the community, for this school, for everyone involved. I had talked with Anthony’s mom a little bit previously. It’s just excitement level is tremendous,” said Will Robelli, the Ogemaw Heights assistant principal and former athletic director. “Win, lose or draw, the result of the game on Sunday, he’s still hometown hero.”
Zettel and the 49ers will look to win the title on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. The game is at 6:30 p.m. on Local 32.
