Cadillac Boys, Girls Finish Second at Division 2 Regional

CADILLAC – The Cadillac boys and girls ski programs took home second-place finishes at Monday’s MHSAA Division 2 regional at Caberfae Peaks.

East Grand Rapids won both the boys and girls titles. Grand Rapids Northview was third on the girls side while Grand Rapids Christian took third place on the boys. Onekama finished in 11th on both sides.

The East Grand Rapids girls team posted a team score of 73, with Cadillac at 94.5 and Northview at 171.5.

On the boys side, East Grand Rapids edged Cadillac with 94 points while the Vikings finished with 97. Grand Rapids Christian had 106.

In the morning session, Cadillac’s Emilee Houk finished fourth in the slalom with a combined run of 49.55 while teammate Georgette Sake was sixth with a run of 50.97.

On the boys side, Cadillac’s Ben Meyer highlighted the morning session with a third-place finish in the giant slalom 1:01.67. Onekama’s Kylar Thomas rounded out the top 10 with a combined run of 1:02.95.

In the afternoon, Houk finished fourth in the giant slalom with a run of 1:00.93 while Onekama’s Michayla Bell was 10th in 1:03.69.

On the boys side, Thomas was third in the slalom with a combined run of 49.21 while Cadillac’s Elliot Lavigne was ninth with a 50.59 run.

The top 10 individuals from each event and top three teams qualified for the state finals on Monday, Feb. 24 at Nub’s Nob in Harbor Springs.
