TRAVERSE CITY – Traverse City Central senior quarterback Peyton Smith signed his National Letter of Intent with the University of Michigan on Wednesday.
A preferred walk-on, Smith visited the Ann Arbor campus last weekend and had the opportunity to meet coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff.
“Growing up I was a Michigan fan, so it was definitely a dream,” Smith said. “I would’ve been fine with going to any college, like with good academics, and where I could get a good degree, but it just ended up working out. Just putting on the Michigan helmet, for real, like it wasn’t a joke, it’s like I’m going to play there. It just felt really cool.”
Smith is currently undecided on his course of study.
