Cheboygan’s Baller to Coach MHSBCA All-Star Game

As high school baseball programs throughout the state wait to see if there will be a spring sports season this year, longtime Cheboygan coach Kevin Baller was recently chosen to serve as a coach for the 2020 Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association’s 39th annual East-West All-Star Baseball Classic.

The all-star game is set to take place this summer at Comerica Park in Detroit.

“I’ve been coaching now Cheboygan for 21 years and for me, this is just a great honor,” Baller said. “I think any person that has an opportunity to work with Division 1 players in an All Star Game, it’s a great honor for them. When I initially got that email, I was ecstatic. Told my wife and she was excited for me, too.”

Baller is hopeful that he’ll see his Cheboygan Chiefs take the field this year and that the all-star game will go on as planned.

“I think we’d all be excited to get back together and back to some normalcy because this is new for a lot of us,” he said. “I think just being able to get back with the kids, able to practice again, get back together as a team. I think that’ll mean a lot to them and myself.”
