Four Area Teams Take Home Runner-up Finishes at State Bowling Finals
The Cadillac boys bowling program finished runner-up at the MHSAA Division 2 state finals at Century Bowl in Waterford on Friday.
The Vikings fell to Jackson Northwest in the state title match, 1,320-1,300.
As the top qualifier, Cadillac record wins over Ferndale (1,284-1,163) and defending state champion New Boston Huron (1,313-1,287) in a quarterfinal and semifinal, respectively.
At the Division 4 boys finals at Royal Scot in Lansing, Farwell finished runner-up to Grass Lake. The Eagles finished sixth in the qualifying round and picked up wins over Breckenridge (1,171-1,163) and Rogers City (1,488-1,186). Whittemore-Prescott ended in 15th place.
On the girls side, Traverse City Christian fell in the semifinals to Kent City, 1,020-1,010. Rogers City finished in 17th place.
At the Division 3 state finals at Jax 60 in Jackson, the Boyne City boys program finished runner-up, falling to Armada in the championship match 1,230-1,215.
The Ramblers were second after the qualifying round and defeated Grand Rapids Catholic Central (1,207-1,187) and Sanford Meridian (1,310-1,200) in the quarterfinal and semifinal, respectively.
Cheboygan was the top qualifier but fell to Armada, 1,355-1,304, in a quarterfinal.
On the girls side, Clare finished runner-up to Essexville Garber, falling 1,182-1,177 in the championship match.
Clare finished second in the qualifying round behind Coloma and recorded finals wins over Armada (1,086-1,085) and Caro (1,131-1,110).
Big Rapids came home in 17th.
After finishing sixth in the qualifying round, Farwell handed Breckenridge a 1,171-1,163 quarterfinal loss before taking on Rogers City in a semifinal (1,488-1,186).
At the Division 1 boys final at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Traverse City West finished 18th.
The individual state finals will take place Saturday.
