Glen Lake’s Griffiths Continuing Football Career at Hope College

MAPLE CITY – After suffering a leg injury at the tail end of his senior season and forced to sit out Glen Lake’s Division 6 state final game against Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central, Xavier Griffiths is getting the opportunity to continue his football and academic careers at the next level.

Griffiths recently committed to Hope College and is set join a Flying Dutchmen program that went 9-2 in 2019, won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship and made a NCAA Division III tournament appearance. Hope has gone 32-9 over the last four seasons.

“I’m super excited about that. I’m not going to lie, I was really like I don’t want to sit out my last game ever of football,” Griffiths said. “I was okay with the role I had to play and sit and cheer my guys on, but I’m really glad I get to continue, so that’s great.”

Griffiths is eyeing playing at running back or safety at Hope and plans to major in marketing and business.
