Senior Spotlight: Boyne City’s Calcaterra Excited to Improve at Michigan Tech

MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Boyne City’s Pete Calcaterra recently concluded an outstanding prep basketball career and now has his sights set on attending Michigan Tech.

An all-conference honoree in the Lake Michigan Conference and Associated Press Division 2 honorable mention all-stater as a senior, Calcaterra closed out his high school career by averaging nearly 15 points and eight rebounds during his senior campaign.

Calcaterra experienced a big growth spurt over the last two years, growing seven inches.

“It’s surreal. I know I’m not done yet,” he said. “Since I’m a late bloomer, I have a lot more to get out of me. I’m just scratching the surface of my potential, so hopefully it shows up there.”

Calcaterra plans on studying engineering at Michigan Tech.
