Traverse City Native Zach Redmond Heading Overseas, Joins Red Bull Munich

Traverse City native and Ferris State alum Zach Redmond has signed with Red Bull Munich of the top German hockey league, Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

A seventh-round selection by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2008 NHL Draft, Redmond, who most recently played for the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League, appeared in 133 career NHL games between the Jets, Colorado Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres.

A defenseman, Redmond tallied 38 points on nine goals and 29 assists in the NHL and spent time with the Chicago Wolves, St. John’s IceCaps, San Antonio Rampage and Rochester Americans of the AHL.

In four years at Ferris State (2007-11), Redmond totaled 90 points in 141 games. He also earned All-CCHA first and second team honors.

Redmond also won a bronze medal playing for the United States national team in the 2015 IIFH World Championships.

He joins a Red Bull Munich team that finished atop the DEL standings with a 31-11-5 record in 2019-20.
