Wimbledon Cancels 2020 Championships

The All England Club announced Wednesday that it is has canceled the 2020 Wimbledon Championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The tournament was scheduled from Monday, June 29 to Sunday, July 12.

It marks the first time that Wimbledon has been canceled since World War II in 1945. Past Wimbledon cancellations were from 1915-1918 due to World War I and from 1940-1945 because of World War II.

The French Open had announced earlier that it is moving to September. Originally scheduled to be played from May 24 to June 7, the French Open will now take place from Sept. 20 to Oct. 4.
