Glen Lake Names Sneed as New Head Football Coach

MAPLE CITY – The Glen Lake Football team has found their new head coach.

Nate Sneed was named to the position on Friday.

Sneed came through the Glen Lake football program himself, played football at Hope College and is currently the Middle and High School Student Interventionist for Glen Lake Schools.

He also was the golf coach at Leland for four years, part of the Glen Lake football program for four years, and has spent three years in the Glen Lake basketball program.

“I’ve had this dream for awhile and it’s awesome to see it come to fruition,” said Sneed.

He takes over for his former head coach, Jerry Angers, who was the head coach for 11 seasons. During that time lead the Lakers on two state title runs, eight playoff appearances and a had career record of 74-43.

Sneed has been part of the development of the players over the years and looks to continue the success of Glen Lake football.

“I’m honored to be named the next guy in line,” Sneed said. “I’m going to work, and our kids are going to work. We’re not entitled to anything, and our kids and our coaching staff are aware of that and we’re going to own that and embrace it and get to work.”

Glen Lake will officially approve the hiring on May 11 during the next school board meeting, which will be done virtually.
