Legendary NFL Coach Don Shula Dies at 90

MIAMI — Don Shula, the winningest coach in NFL history, died on Monday at the age of 90. In a statement, the Miami Dolphins said that he passed away peacefully at his home Monday morning.

Shula has the most wins in NFL history with 347 victories and led the Miami Dolphins to the league’s only 17-0 record in 1972. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997.

In their statement, the Miami Dolphins said, “Don Shula was the patriarch of the Miami Dolphins for 50 years. He brought the winning edge to our franchise and put the Dolphins and the city of Miami in the national sports scene. Our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to Mary Anne along with his children Dave, Donna, Sharon, Anne and Mike.”
