MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Boyne City senior Katelyn Gabos is one of many high school athletes who saw their spring season canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The good news for Gabos is that she’ll continue her softball and academic careers at Ferris State in the fall.

Gabos attended a softball camp at Ferris State as a junior and left the camp pleasantly surprised with an offer.

“It was definitely a surprise because it was so early on. I wasn’t even sure what I really wanted to do and if I wanted to pursue softball in college. And then I got the offer, it was just like, ‘Oh, wow, this could happen.’ I just got really excited from there.”

Gabos expects to play as a middle infielder for Ferris State
