MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Cadillac senior Libbey Lloyd participated in multiple sports in high school, including tennis, skiing and even football.

As Lloyd prepares to head off to Eastern Michigan University in the fall, she’ll add another sport to her already lengthy resume as a member of the women’s rowing program.

Like many athletes on EMU’s team, Lloyd had never competed as rower prior to college. But the Eagles were searching for athletes to add to their roster and found Lloyd.

Lloyd competed in five different sports over her four years at Cadillac, earning seven varsity letters. So, when the opportunity to row at EMU presented itself, she jumped at the opportunity.

“People in my family have rowed before and they were like, ‘You are tall. You’re strong. You’re the perfect build. Why not just reach out to some of these schools,’” Lloyd said. “This past winter, I didn’t really know where I wanted to go. It was kind of open, whatever. I was like, I guess. What’s there to lose? Why not?”
