MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Clare senior multi-sport athlete Jenna Betts experienced a great deal of success during her four-year prep career but truly excelled on the bowling lanes.

Betts captured the 2019 MHSAA Division 3 individual state championship as a junior and led Clare to a runner-up finish at the 2020 MHSAA Division 3 team state finals. In addition, Betts was part of three MITCA state championships as a member of Clare’s track and field program and helped lead the Pioneers to their first volleyball district championship in 20 years.

Betts it now taking her talents to Marian (Wis.) University and its women’s bowling program.

“It kind of started to click like okay, maybe if I do this a couple more times that maybe I could go bowl somewhere,” Betts said. “It’s always been the dream. It’s always been the number one goal. But now that it’s a reality, it’s like wow, okay. Now how do I take my game to the next level? And I think my coaches at Marian are going to help me do that.”
