MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Clare senior three-sport athlete Brooklyn Tocco is set to take her softball talents to Delta College in the fall.

Prior to the 2020 season being canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, Tocco had started at third base in every varsity game since her freshman year.

In addition to her softball career, Tocco is also a two-time golf state finals qualifier as an individual and played on Clare’s basketball team.

Tocco enjoyed meeting Delta’s coaching staff and she recently met her future teammates in a unique way.

“We had a Zoom meeting the other day with our new Delta team,” Tocco said. “It just got me more excited because there’s like a bunch of super nice girls and I really liked the coach. So that was my first time like seeing all of them. I kind of knew some of the players through friends, and some of them added me on Snapchat and snapchatted me before that. It was just weird because normally you go to your first practice and everyone’s there, but nope, we met on Zoom.”

Tocco joins a Delta program that finished 26-20 during the 2019 season.
