Senior Spotlight: Reed City’s Saez Signs With Alpena CC
MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Reed City senior Zac Saez has been a standout in the Coyote basketball program.
Saez spent all four years on varsity and is now continuing his education and athletic career with Alpena Community College.
“Right now I just can’t wait to meet my teammates and start playing with them in the gym and developing a chemistry,” said Saez. “It’s pretty cool actually if I would’ve waited too long and never got in contact with the coach I probably would have never the opportunity to go up there and play and even go on a visit.”
During his junior year, he made academic all-state and honorable mention all-conference.
In his senior campaign, he average 14 points per game and was 1st team all-conference.
Both his junior and senior year, he was team captain.
“The thing that stood ot to me the most about Zac is his leadership skills,” said Lumberjack head coach Mark Jacobs in a statement. “If you are going to play point guard, you need to lead and direct. Zac understands this and this is his strength.”
Saez plans to major in Utility Tech while at Alpena.
