Basom Steps Down at Central Montcalm

After seven seasons as Central Montcalm’s boys basketball coach, Dan Basom is stepping down to spend more time with his young family.

The decision to step away from coaching was a difficult one for Basom, but he felt it was the right time to make the move.

“It’s been on my mind for a couple years,” Basom said. “I’ve got a really young family. My oldest is six and will be entering kindergarten. My youngest is a year and a half. So it was a great year that we had. I’m going to miss the interactions with the players and coaches, but it’s just prioritizing family at this point in my life, so I’m excited for it.”

Central Montcalm is set to return two starters from last year’s squad that went 15-6.
