Huber Steps Down as Shepherd Boys Basketball Coach

After 10 years at the helm of Shepherd’s varsity boys basketball program, Ryan Huber is stepping down from his coaching duties to spend more time with his family.

Huber1With five children at home, Huber says it was becoming challenging to balance his family, work and coaching duties.

“You know, to be a good dad and to do the coaching right and my job at school as a counselor, to do all three of those things was getting to be pretty tough,” Huber said. “Family is most important. So I’m going to miss it. Just didn’t have enough time to put into the program as much as I really wanted to be able to do.”

The Bluejays won a share of a Tri-Valley Conference West championship in 2012-13 and had four winning seasons and six nine-win plus seasons under Huber.

Shepherd went 16-6 in 2019-20 for its best record under Huber.

Huber says Shepherd has a great group of athletes coming up to continue the program’s success.
