Minor League Baseball Season Canceled for 2020
The 2020 Minor League Baseball season was officially canceled Tuesday after Major League Baseball informed MiLB affiliates that they would not provide teams with players this season.
It marks the first time in the history of Minor League Baseball that there will not be a season.
“These are unprecedented times for our country and organization as this is the first time in our history that we’ve had a summer without Minor League Baseball,” said MiLB President and CEO Pat O’Conner in a statement. “While this is a sad day for many, this announcement removes the uncertainty surrounding the 2020 season and allows our teams to begin planning to an exciting 2021 season of affordable family entertainment.”
A 60-game 2020 MLB season is set to start later in July, with players reporting to training on Wednesday.
