With the 2020 Northwoods League season just days away from starting in Traverse City, the Northern Michigan Dune Bears are one of two new clubs to call Turtle Creek Stadium home this summer.
Alex O’Donnell will serve as the inaugural manager of the Dune Bears. O’Donnell was originally set to be the hitting coach for the Kokomo Jackrabbits, but he’s excited to be in northern Michigan this summer and get his first head coaching opportunity.
“I’m very excited. Very blessed,” O’Donnell said. “In terms of everybody coming together for this in such a short time period, it’s really awesome to see. Everybody in this organization and this city doing so much for the players and just to bring baseball to Traverse City is really something special.”
The Dune Bears open their season against the Traverse City Pit Spitters at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Turtle Creek Stadium.
