Reed City Alum Raby Takes Over Coaching Reins at SUNY Morrisville

Reed City High School alum Ed Raby is quickly moving through the college football coaching ranks.

A 2008 Reed City graduate, Raby was recently named the interim head coach at NCAA Division III SUNY Morrisville.

Raby CopyRaby joined Morrisville’s program in 2017 and has served as the team’s defensive coordinator, in addition to overseeing the special teams and the program’s academic efforts.

An Alma College graduate and three-year starter on the defensive line for the Scots, Raby began his coaching career at Alfred (N.Y.) University before moving on to Allegheny (Md.) College in 2014.Raby5 Copy

“The toughest part for us is just getting a new offensive coordinator, coaches in, and not really being able to have spring ball,” Raby says. “That was the biggest challenge. Our guys did a great job. The nice thing is we have a lot of coaches that are returning. So they know the expectations. Our guys know how to win. Feels pretty smooth, but definitely challenging. Not what you expect.”

Raby graduated from Alma College with a bachelor’s in business administration and earned a master’s of business administration from Alfred University.

Raby hopes to remove the interim tag following the upcoming college football season.

He takes over a Morrisville program that went 6-5 each of the last two seasons.
