MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Traverse City St. Francis senior Kam Schaub has been a staple for the Gladiators and their varsity girls basketball program for the past four years.

Now Schaub is taking her talents to the next level and joining Ave Maria (Fla.) University and its women’s basketball program in the fall.

With both friends and family having attended Ave Marie, Schaub has some familiarity with the school.

“I decided to take a visit and I was able to practice with the team and watch them play a game and tour the campus,” Schaub said. “That was just a really awesome experience. I kind of fell in love with it there. It’s just crazy to believe that I’m going to be competing at the college level in the next game that I’m going to be playing.”

Schaub plans to study pre-law at Ave Maria. She joins an NAIA member Ave Maria program that went 15-14 overall during the 2019-20 season.
